If everyone is moving forward together, then success takes care of itself.
Henry Ford
Sounds good, but easier said than done, don’t you think? Most of us are inherently selfish, even if we don’t want to be, and it’s hard not to think of our own interests first.
One of the most unselfish acts I’ve seen is that of Alistair Brownlee, who gave up his chance of winning an important race to help his brother Jonny cross the finish line.
Although it might seem to be a foolish decision in Alistair’s career plan, his spontaneous act of altruism has earned him worldwide admiration and respect. Maybe it’s not all about winning after all.
In the workplace, we depend on each other to achieve the overall goals of our organisations, so it makes sense to be considerate to each other. It makes for a much better atmosphere too.
As the old saying goes, there’s no ‘I’ in TEAM and if we can remember that, we’ll find that Together Everyone Achieves More.
